I came across this video from a French movie called Le Petit Nicolas, and was intrigued by its style. I’d never heard of Nicolas, but a little digging shows he is the hero of a popular series of French children’s books first published in 1959. The books were made into a live-action film in 2009; I believe this video is the title sequence or credits from that film.
I think it’s funny how now people try to replicate paper and other “old” media with computers and “new” media. Do you think those were really paper cutouts and pop-ups being filmed, or was the whole thing computer-animated?
Either way, it’s a fun few minutes and now I’m curious about the English-language version of these books.
